The Biostone and Ultra-Biostone Filters in Our Water Ionizers

The Ultra Biostone is considered by many to be the finest domestic water filter of it's kind in the world today. Also called a hollow membrane filter this filter is the same size filter that is used in kidney dialysis. It is the finest (smallest micron) domestic filter available and will remove virtually everything except for the essential alkalizing.

The Biostone has nine separate stages of filtration. To give you an idea of how fine these filters are - there is over 25,000 microns in one inch. There are 250,000 .1M in one inch.

The primary filtering media is Granulated Activated Carbon. There is silver impregnated into the carbon to make sure that bacteria does not grow. Because it is impregnated into the carbon, the silver does not leach into the water. Tests done by the Seoul Department of Health show that no silver is released from these filters.

The Biostone Filter also includes five fiber layers. These layers provide extra effectiveness. The Biostone also includes calcium plus a layer of Bioceramic Tourmaline. The coral calcium is Japanese premium grade and comes from environmentally approved land deposits. The coral calcium not only helps to slightly remineralize the water but also naturally sweetens the water and changes volatile fluorine molecules into a benign compound (calcium fluoride).

The tourmaline in this patented, state-of-the-art filter really makes a difference to the ability of the water to carry an ionized charge naturally. As the water passes over the tourmaline crystals the ORP is naturally decreased and the water made more bio-available.

What this means is when water passes through your Athena or Delphi even in “Purified” mode the water will come out slightly ionized!

Also called a hollow membrane filter this filter is the same size filter that is used in kidney dialysis. It is the finest (smallest micron) domestic filter available and will remove virtually everything except for the essential alkalizing minerals.

Typically, if on city water we recommend the regular Biostone filter but for well or other untreated water and where there is hyper-allergy issues we recommend the .01M Biostone filter. The picture above shows a single .01M hollow membrane filter fiber magnified 40 times. Hundreds of these are in a Biostone Ultra Filter.

Below the hollow membrane stage the filter is the same as the .1m Biostone – 4 fiber filters, silver impregnated Granulated Activated Carbon, Calcium and Bioceramic Tourmaline.

The most powerful liquid antioxidant known as Alkaline Ionized Water is produced using a cathode and not an anode as one would suspect. In the case of Ionized Water we produce alkaline anabolic water filled with negatively charged ions with the very thing we must avoid if we wish to be healthy, that of a cathode, which is associated with catabolic processes. When something is decaying, it means that it is catabolizing or wasting away. The anode, something we normally associate as being good for us (anabolic), produces acid catabolic water, which is harmful if consumed.

Why Ionize?

You want two things from an ionizer: clean and healthy water. Other considerations in performance are durability, or how long the unit will perform, and functionality.

Research states that the ideal level for drinking alkaline water is between pH8.5 – pH9.5 with an Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) of -250mv. It is unimportant if an ionizer creates big -ORP numbers at really high levels of pH. For most people, water over a pH10 begins to acquire an unpleasant taste due to the heavy concentration of minerals. What is important is drinking water at the mildly alkaline levels of pH8.5 – pH9.5 with good -ORP.
